Kerala, Kottayam, May 1: In a significant breakthrough in the fight against illegal liquor trade, the Changanassery Police arrested Pradeep Joseph (41) of Cheeranchira for illegally possessing and selling Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) beyond permissible limits.
Acting on a tip-off received by District Police Chief Mr. Shahul Hameed A., IPS, the police launched enhanced surveillance across suspected areas. At around 9:00 PM, the accused was intercepted near Chettipuzha IE Nagar while delivering liquor using a scooter bearing registration No. KL-33-K-7216.
A total of 5 litres of foreign liquor and ₹1,77,040 in cash were seized from his possession. The accused was found to be supplying liquor directly to customers in violation of legal norms.
The successful operation was conducted by a police team led by Inspector B. Vinod Kumar, under the supervision of DySP A.K. Viswanathan. The dedicated team included SI Sandeep J., Biju C.S., SrCPO Pramod Kumar, and CPOs Ranjith E.T. and Pradeesh.
Following the arrest, Pradeep Joseph was produced in court and remanded to judicial custody. This action highlights the Changanassery Police’s firm commitment to curbing illegal activities and upholding public order through vigilant enforcement.
