Chennai: The Thirumangalam Police have solved a murder case by arresting the accused on Tuesday. The police began investigating into the case. The police said the matter that provoked the suspect into murder was a heated argument over financial transactions with the woman who lived with her partner on 18th Street. The police said on Sunday night the lorry driver, Vikas Sharma aged 23 from Haryana came to meet Pinky aged 30 at her residence. They were alone in the house and during their conversation it escalated into an argument. The accused, Vikas Sharma, was in a drunken state and he stabbed her with a knife and then killed her by covering her face with a cloth in such a manner that she cannot breath. When Mr. Bahadur returned home, he found the woman lying in a pool of blood in the bathroom. On seeing the plight of the woman he sought the help of some neighbors, who alerted the police. A police official said Pinky was also selling saris in the locality and her family and social background were not known and quoted neighbors as saying that strangers often visited her home. On examining the surveillance cameras in the vicinity it showed Sharma walking away from the scene of the crime. Following a confidential piece of information a special team formed by Thirumangalam Inspector (Law & Order) Mr. M. Ravi arrested the suspect in Madhavaram. He was produced in a city court and remanded in judicial custody. During interrogation Sharma told the police that he first inflicted an injury on Pinky.
