Chennai: Students are one of the biggest road user groups, influencers to other adult road users and are our future riders and drivers. Unfortunately our school children are meeting with road accidents which are alarming. In order to prevent such accidents and make our roads safe, Greater Chennai Traffic police along with Thozhan Organization has initiated a Mega Awareness Campaign on Traffic Rules, Good Samaritan Law, and Golden Hour in 100 schools where we will create awareness about Traffic Rules, Good Samaritan Law, Golden Hour, and Basic Life Support to the school children. Today on 18.04.2022 the campaign was inaugurated by Mr. Shankar Jiwal, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Greater Chennai Police in the presence of Mr. Kapil Kumar C. Saratkar, IPS, Addl. COP, Traffic and other officers of GCTP and Thozhan Team at MCC school, Chetpet.
The campaign will be held from 18th April 2022 to 22nd April 2022 covering 100 schools and colleges across Chennai reaching more than 25,000 students directly and their families indirectly. The motto of this campaign is to reduce traffic accidents and make school and college zones safer and make students and parents aware of traffic rules and encourage people to help accident victims in future without hesitation.
The Police asid that we strongly believe that with continuous awareness, we could make people aware about Road safety and it will help save countless number of lives. GCTP takes this opportunity to thank Thozhan organization for having come forward for this noble cause and also look forward to similar initiatives by other stakeholders.
