Tiruvarur: In the Mannargudi area of Thiruvarur district, legal action has been initiated against Malaikallan, the son of Saminathan from Nadutheru, Amrapakkam, Muvanallur, for his involvement in a sexual assault case. Following the District Superintendent of Police’s recommendation to invoke the Anti-Gangster Act against Malaikallan, the Tiruvarur District Collector, on the date of December 11, 2023, directed his incarceration in Trichy Central Jail under the mentioned Act. Additionally, this year (2023) has seen the application of the Gangster Prevention Act against a total of 67 individuals, including 17 involved in counterfeit liquor sales, 3 in ganja and tobacco offenses, 41 in law and order cases, and 6 in sex crime cases. Superintendent of Police, Mr. S. Jayakumar, M.Sc (Agri), issued a stern warning in this regard.
