Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: Under the instructions of Tirunelveli District Superintendent of Police Vishvesh B. Sastry (IPS), ongoing awareness campaigns are being conducted to educate school and college students as well as the general public on how to protect themselves from cybercrimes. As part of this initiative, Murugan, the Additional Superintendent of Police (Cyber Crime), conducted awareness sessions for students at Chokkalal Higher Secondary School in Mukkudal and AVRM Velayutham Government Higher Secondary School in Ambasamudram. During the program, he advised students—particularly young women—about the potential consequences of uploading personal photographs to social media and cautioned them against accepting messages or video calls from strangers. He also informed them that the toll-free helpline number 1930 and the website https://cybercrime.gov.in can be used to report online crimes, such as scholarship scams and financial fraud.
