BERHAMPUR/ASKA: A dreaded criminal, G Bulu Patra, was injured in an encounter with the police near Babanpur High School under Aska police limits early on Tuesday.
Bulu and his associate were trying to escape from Aska on a motorcycle when a police patrolling team, led by Aska IIC Baleswar Gidhi, chased them Aska police station SDPO Subash Chandra Panda said.
While fleeing, Bulu fired three rounds and police retaliated, during which a bullet hit the criminal in the knee. He was immediately arrested. His associate fled from the spot leaving an injured Bulu behind. Police seized a mouser, three rounds of live bullets, two mobile phones and one motorcycle from the spot.
Bulu has been admitted to MKCGMCH. Bulu hails from Golapalli village under Aska police limits and is involved in several crimes in various places of Ganjam and Bhubaneswar.
