Guntur, Andhra Pradesh: In a strong step towards a drug-free future, Andhra Pradesh Police launched and strengthened the ‘EAGLE’ initiative to completely eradicate drug networks across the state in Mangalagiri on Saturday.
Harish Kumar Gupta, DGP, emphasized that the mission focuses on protecting youth and has already brought major success by eliminating ganja cultivation spread across over 11,000 acres. Strict enforcement under the NDPS Act has also led to the arrest of 112 smugglers under the PIT-NDPS Act.
A. K. Ravikrishna, EAGLE Chief, highlighted that dedicated EAGLE units are now operational in all 28 districts, with advanced monitoring through drones and satellites under “Operation Chaitanya.” Special surveillance on trains and joint operations with other agencies are further strengthening enforcement.
Initiatives like “Safe Campus Zone” aim to protect students, while focused drives such as “Vajra Prahar” and “Operation Garuda” are targeting drug hotspots and trafficking networks.
This comprehensive and technology-driven approach reflects a firm commitment by the police to eliminate drug menace and ensure a safer future for the youth.
