Mangalagiri, Andhra Pradesh: In a major step towards strengthening public safety and improving policing across the state, Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha and DGP Harish Kumar Gupta conducted a comprehensive statewide review of law and order with senior police officers through a video conference.
The high-level review focused on enhancing preventive policing, maintaining law and order, and ensuring the safety and security of citizens across all police ranges. Senior officers were directed to adopt a proactive approach to crime prevention and improve coordination among police units for more effective law enforcement.
A key priority of the meeting was the state’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and organised crime. Police officials were instructed to intensify anti-drug operations, strengthen intelligence gathering, and take decisive action against criminal networks involved in drug trafficking and other organised offences.
The review also emphasized women’s and child safety under the SHAKTHI initiative, with directions to ensure prompt response to complaints, enhanced protection measures, and effective support for victims. Strengthening the fight against cybercrime and taking swift action against unlawful activities on social media were also identified as major priorities.
To improve the criminal justice system, the Home Minister called for closer coordination between the police and prosecution departments to achieve higher conviction rates through quality investigations and strong presentation of evidence in courts. She also stressed the importance of citizen-centric, transparent, and professional policing, encouraging officers to remain accessible, accountable, and responsive to the needs of the public.
Addressing the officers, DGP Harish Kumar Gupta highlighted the importance of intelligence-led policing, professional investigations, and coordinated enforcement strategies to effectively tackle emerging crime trends and maintain public confidence in the police.
The review meeting reaffirmed the Andhra Pradesh Police’s commitment to building a drug-free, safe, and secure Andhra Pradesh through proactive policing, technological advancements, inter-agency coordination, and community-focused initiatives. The directions issued during the meeting are expected to further strengthen public safety, enhance law enforcement efficiency, and ensure better service delivery to citizens across the state.
