The Police arrested over two dozen persons including a woman for allegedly running a gambling and betting racket in Greater Kailash on Sunday. The police also claimed to have seized a poker table and over ₹7 lakh in cash during the raid. Deputy Commissioner of Police (south-east) Romil Baaniya told that the illegal activity was going on for the past 20 to 25 days, and that the local police had conducted a raid following a tip off. Following the tip off on Saturday about gambling and betting at house number A-19 of Pamposh Enclave, The Greater Kailash-1 police station received after which a raid was conducted at the address. As many as 25 persons, along with the owner of the house, Anupama Jain, were found gambling and betting. All were arrested on the spot and a case under Sections 3/4/5/9/55 of Delhi Gambling Act has been registered. Apart from cash, the police also recovered 45 packs of playing cards, 2,700 plastic tokens and chips of different value, a bingo set, a currency counting machine and 25 mobile phones. The woman, allegedly the main operator of the illegal activity, claimed to be an ex-model currently working as an event manager, the police added. Mr. Baaniya said that the casino’s name was Fatehpur Beri casino and her clients were well-educated people from Janakpuri, Pitampura, Munirika and Greater Kailash . The accused also had CCTV cameras installed outside the house. The incident comes less than a week after a secret casino running inside a farmhouse of a retired Army personnel in Dera Mandi Road in Fatehpur Beri was busted by the south Delhi Police.
