Karnataka, Mysuru: In a disturbing incident reported from Mysuru, a young woman from Madikeri was allegedly gang-raped by two men after meeting them at a local pub on Sunday. The victim has filed a complaint with the Vijayanagar police station, leading to the swift arrest of both accused – one from Kodagu and another from Mysuru. The police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the incident, including whether the victim was a resident of Mysuru or if she was brought there from Madikeri.
This incident has revived painful memories of the infamous August 2021 gang rape case in Mysuru, where a college student was assaulted by seven men near Chamundi Hill. In that case, the perpetrators had also attacked the victim’s friend and demanded Rs. 3 lakhs. While the earlier case saw justice with the arrest of seven accused from Tamil Nadu and the filing of a comprehensive 1,499-page charge sheet, this fresh incident has reignited fears and concerns among Mysuru residents about women’s safety in the cultural city.
