Karnataka: The police have discovered a drug network in Mangalore and arrested 10 people who were involved in drug peddling.
Doctors and medical students from reputed private colleges were among those arrested, Neil Kishorilal Ram Jee Shah (38) NRI BDS student, Dr. Sameer (32), Dr. Manimaran Muthu (28), Dr. Nadia Siraj (24) Dr. Varshini Prathy (26) Dr. Riya Chadha (22) Dr. Bhanu Dahiya (27) Dr. Kshitiz Gupta (25), Ira Basin (23) and Muhammad Rauf are the arrested persons.
Mangalore CCB Inspector Shyam Sundar HM said that the accused were selling ganja to people including students in a flat near Bunts Hotel in the city.
A raid was conducted on the flat after receiving information about this gang, a person named Neel Kishorilal Ramji Shah was arrested during the raid.
City Police Commissioner Sasikumar said that police seized 2 kg of ganja (worth Rs 50,000), 2 mobile phones, cash worth Rs 7,000, digital equipment and toy guns during the raid.
Other accused in the case are different hotels. Police have informed that they were seized from PGs and private residences, Mangalore East Police have registered a case and are investigating.
