Vijayawada: 6 CPI (Maoist) cadres of AOBSZC (Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee) have surrendered before the Andhra Pradesh Police, demonstrating its weakening sway over the people with the growing redundancy of its ideology and effective outreach programs of the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
A significant decline in Left Wing Extremism in Andhra Pradesh in the past 2 years, caused disillusionment in the party and it witnessed a drop in cadre strength from 140 to 54 and their ranks saw a reduction from 2 companies which consisted of 50 members to a mere platoon of 10 members.
In the past, the Maoist party organized and mobilized tribals around prevailing issues and turning them into a rebellion through weapons and bloodshed. But the change in Police approach and extensive meaningful welfare programs of the Government of Andhra Pradesh created a non-conducive environment for Maoists, making them redundant to the tribals.
AP DGP Mr. Gautam Sawang, IPS appeals to all the UG Maoist cadres, who are mostly misguided youth to shun violence, bloodshed & resort to means which are democratic and surrender to join the mainstream and avail the benefits of Government Surrender and Rehabilitation Policy.
