North 24 Parganas: The Dum Dum Airport Police Station in North 24 Parganas District received a complaint stating that the complainant’s husband had received a call from an unknown number, where the caller claimed to be an Assistant Branch Manager of Bandhan Bank. The caller insisted on the need for online updating to maintain the account and warned of potential account closure for non-compliance. Initially, the caller shared basic information such as PAN card number and name, then proceeded to request further details from the husband, resulting in a deduction of Rs. 4,14,892 from the bank accounts. Only later did the complainant’s husband realize he had been deceived by a fraudulent scheme.
In the investigation, SI Surajit Haldar of the Airport Police Team promptly took action and identified the beneficiary account. The complainant has been refunded the entire amount of Rs. 4,14,892 that was fraudulently taken.
