Chengannur: The funeral procession of the respected former Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri Oommen Chandy, will travel from Thiruvananthapuram to Kottayam via the MC Road. Due to this, there is a possibility of a traffic jam in Chengannur town. Municipal buses should be parked on both sides of the railway station and along the road. Activists coming from the southern areas of Chengannur should park their vehicles at the Chengannur IHRD Engineering College ground, while those coming from the northern areas should park at Puthan Ugpadi Pazhavana ground. Vehicles will not be allowed to park on both sides of the MC Road from Putan Ugupadi to ITI Junction.
Passengers coming from Thiruvalla side (from the north) via the MC Road should turn their vehicles east (left) at Kallissery Junction and proceed towards Pandalam via Putenkav Junction Aranmula. Vehicles coming from the Adoor side of the MC Road should turn west (left) at Karakkad temple junction and follow the route through Komalat Padi-Mula Plamchot-Peringala-Kanjiratum Mood-Chammat Muk-Kotokulanji-Ottapees-Kollakadav Bridge to reach Mavelikara via Mannar-Kavumbhag MC Road at Injillam Junction. After reaching Changanassery, continue towards Kottayam. The mentioned traffic control measures will be implemented starting from 10 am in Chengannur.
