Hyderabad City, Telangana: In a significant operation against vehicle-related fraud, the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, Charminar Zone, in coordination with Warasiguda Police, busted a duplicate number plate racket and arrested three accused involved in deceiving enforcement agencies.
During the investigation, police discovered that the accused had fraudulently affixed the same registration number (TS09 FE 4997) to three different Honda Activa scooters. The racket was allegedly intended to evade traffic enforcement, avoid bank repossession of a financed vehicle, and mislead government authorities.
Further verification revealed that one of the scooters was an unregistered financed vehicle, while all three two-wheelers were being operated using identical registration plates to escape traffic challans and legal scrutiny.
The police seized all three Honda Activa scooters bearing the duplicate registration number and registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the fraudulent activity.
The successful operation highlights Hyderabad Police’s vigilance in detecting sophisticated vehicle frauds and reinforces its commitment to ensuring road safety, enforcing traffic laws, and preventing misuse of vehicle registration systems.
