Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, November 4, 2025: Swift action by G. Sigadam Police led to the arrest of three women involved in theft from abandoned houses in the village. The incident came to light when locals noticed the women moving suspiciously with large gunny bags along Balija Street around 11 a.m.
A complaint was lodged by Veladi Nagaraju (62), who reported that old bronze utensils kept in his unused house had been stolen. Based on the complaint, Crime No. 72/2025 under Section 305 of the BNS Act was registered, and the police apprehended the suspects.
The arrested women were identified as:
Jagannatham Kripavathi (32), W/o Chanti
Jagannatham Santoshi (29), D/o Baburao
Dasari Lakshmi (37), W/o Rambabu
Investigation revealed that the trio, hailing from Ayyannapet area near Nallamaramma Temple, Vizianagaram district, was engaged in selling trumpets and plastic dolls at fairs while simultaneously stealing metal items and valuables from abandoned houses under the guise of collecting old goods.
Police Appeal:
Residents are urged to remain alert and immediately inform police by dialling 100 or contacting the nearest station if they observe suspicious movements.
False Rumours Denied:
Circle Inspector M. Avataram, JR Puram, clarified that reports circulating on social media about a gang abducting children in the district are completely baseless. He cautioned the public not to believe such false and fear-inducing rumours, emphasizing that strict legal action will be taken against those spreading misinformation that causes panic among citizens.
