Thoubal: On the tumultuous day of January 17, 2024, a furious mob directed their ire towards the 3rd Indian Reserve Battalion (3IRB) situated in Khangabok, Thoubal District. In a commendable display of restraint, security forces effectively thwarted the mob’s advances, utilizing only the minimum force required to maintain order. However, the situation took a more ominous turn when the agitated crowd attempted to breach Thoubal Police Headquarters, compelling the security forces to escalate their response to the level of legal force.
Amidst the chaotic scene, certain elements within the mob resorted to extreme measures by firing live rounds. This reckless act of violence resulted in three members of the Border Security Force (BSF) sustaining serious bullet injuries. The individuals affected by this unfortunate incident include Constable Gourav Kumar, ASI Sobram Singh, and ASI Ramji.
Swift action was taken to ensure the prompt medical attention and evacuation of the injured security personnel to Raj Medicity. The gravity of the situation underscores the challenges faced by security forces in maintaining law and order in the face of civil unrest, and it highlights the need for a measured and calibrated response to such volatile incidents.
