<![CDATA[The police arrested the accused hours after they conducted a robbery on Friday in north-west Delhi’s Keshav Puram. The accused allegedly planned to steal Rs.21.5 lakh but were caught. Mr.A.K. Lall,Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North West) said that the accused have been identified as Yogesh Bhardwaj (35), Rajesh (33), Surender (32), and Narender (36). A call to the Police Control Room was made by Yogesh and Surender around 4.30 p.m. stating that four persons on two motorcycles robbed them of Rs.21.5 lakh, which they had withdrawn from a bank in Adarsh Nagar at the instruction of their employer Gaurav Bansal, a grain trader in north-west Delhi. After the police reached the spot, they took the two men to the police station to record their statement.The men claimed that they were robbed at gunpoint. Mr. Lall said that when the two were initially questioned, there were some discrepancies in their versions of events from the day. Later, when the two were taken to separate rooms and asked to explain the incident, their versions did not match. As they conducted unintrupted interrogation, they broke down and confessed that they wanted to flee with the money and staged the robbery to evade an arrest. The police said Yogesh, after withdrawing the money, called his brother Rajesh and handed him a portion of the amount. Surender did the same as well. Mr. Lall added saying that Rs.7.9lakh were recovered from Rajesh and Rs.12.8lakh from Narender. Rs.80,000 is yet to be recovered.]]>
