Police sub-inspector (PSI) Nilesh Jagtap of Nigdi police station, who is investigating the case said that they arrested the accused and found out that he had recently turned 17 years old and had a record of seven to eight cases, including body offences and theft. According to the police, while the victim is a student of a local school, the apprehended teenager is unemployed and a school dropout. The 15-year-old girl filed the complaint days after the incident happened on the evening of July 23 when the girl was on her way home, after which an on-record juvenile was booked for sexually harassing and kidnapping a minor girl known to him. According to her complaint, the apprehended juvenile and three of his friends were in a car when they came across the girl, pulled her in the car and touched her inappropriately. PSI Jagtap said that the girl could only identify the one who was apprehended. He was produced in the juvenile justice board (JJB), Yerawada, on Wednesday, and sent to the observation home by the board. He will be interrogated at the observation home to identify the others.
