<![CDATA[The Delhi Police recovered the total amount from the accused who were arrested on Wednesday. The Uttam Nagar police received a call on Wednesday evening from the manager of a cash collection company stating that one of their custodians Jaswinder had been robbed of Rs.8.9 lakh at gunpoint in Vipin Garden. DCP (Dwarka) Shibesh Singh said that Mr. Jaswinder told his manager Nawal Taneja that he had collected money from the last point at Nilothi when two persons on a motorcycle waylaid him. Mr. Jaswinder said they snatched the bag from him at gunpoint. During investigation, the police found an empty bag fitted with a GPS chip near the crime spot. Mr. Singh said that Mr. Jaswinder was called in for questioning. He was asked about the route he took from the last point of cash collection to the crime spot...We were not convinced with his answer. Also, the condition in which the bag was found did not hint at a robbery. During sustained interrogation, Mr. Jaswinder confessed that he and his accomplice Surender had staged the robbery as they needed to pay huge debts. The second incident was reported from Shahdara’s Karawal Nagar, in which three persons, including a cab driver, were arrested. They have been identified as Deepak, cab driver Sandeep and Himanshu. DCP (Shahdara) Ms.Nupur Prasad said Varun Gupta, a salesman at a factory, gave a bag with Rs.15 lakh to his colleagues Deepak and Himanshu with instructions from the factory owner that they were to hand over the bag to a third party. A few hours later, they told Mr. Gupta that four bike-borne men had robbed the money and had also assaulted them with a sharp-edged weapon. The DCP Ms. Prasad said their injuries appeared self-made, which made the police suspicious. She said that both of them were interrogated separately and found contradictions in their version of events. They confessed to staging the robbery during sustained interrogation. They told the police that they had roped in Deepak’s brother Sandeep, who is a cab driver, and handed over the money to him. They said they inflicted injuries on themselves before reaching the factory. The police have recovered the money and seized four mobile phones, two wallets and a two-wheeler used by the accused.]]>
