Hyderabad City: The pleasant Sunday morning and the nippy cool breeze sweeping across Tank Bund witnessed thousands of Hyderabadis gathered at People’s Plaza necklace Road at 5:30 AM to participate in the gender equality run organized by SHE teams of Hyderabad city Police to mark the upcoming women’s day on March 8th.
The event was flagged off by the honorable minister for Home Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Honorable Minister for Education Mrs. Sabitha Indra Reddy, GHMC Mayor Mrs. G Vijayalakshmi, Mr. Dhanam Nagendra (MLA Khairatabad), Mr. CV Anand IPS Hyderabad city Police Commissioner and additional DG women safety Mrs. Swati Lakra IPS.
She teams was conceptualized in the erstwhile Cyberabad and Hyderabad Commissionerates in 2014 which created deterrence in eve teasers and improve the safety and security of women in the state. Ministers lauding the efforts of women protection squad said “Hyderabad is the best city to live in India and one of the biggest reasons for that is because woman feels safe and secure here.”
The messages by the dignitaries galvanize the participants who had gathered to show their solidarity for the cause of women empowerment and safety. The arrival of city police commissioner Mr. CV, Anand IPS further enthused the crowd. Mr. Anand regaled the participants by making Key announcements in his speech.” Happy to see u all here. On women’s day we will appoint one Woman Inspector as SHO in a L&O police station. It’s a day to recognize the importance of women in our country who are contributing a lot to all the major sectors in our country while handling the family responsibilities.” he said
“80 women Sub-Inspectors have newly reported to Hyderabad city Police and we look forward to train them and place them in key positions, He added.
“Elaborate security arrangements has been made for the assembly sessions that are going to start from tomorrow all our officers are maintaining high alert and the force has been briefed on how to tackle the issues that may trigger during assembly sessions.” he added
“I am thrilled to be around so many eminent personalities.” said the little girl Tanya Begum who campaigned on drug abuse and received a reward from CP Mr. Anand. All the senior officers of the Hyderabad City Police including Addl. CP L&O Mr. D.S. Chauhan IPS, Addl CP (Crimes & SIT, i/c SHE Teams & Bharosa) Mr. A.R.Srinivas IPS, Jt. CPs Mr. Ranganath IPS, Mr. Viswaprasad IPS, Mr. Ramesh Reddy IPS, Mr. Kartikeya IPS, DCPs and Addl. DCPs. Addl. CP Crimes Mr. A R Srinivas IPS has appreciated the dedicated efforts of the entire SHE Team officers led by Mrs. Sirisha Raghavendra, Addl. DCP SHE Teams & Bharosa and Mr. Poornachander ACP Admin CCS in making the event a grand success and 5000 participants, officers participated in the event.
