DGP Mr. K.V Rajendranath Reddy IPS expressed profound appreciation for the swift and commendable action taken by the Anantapur Police in response to a distress call made by a young woman who had boarded a train from Kachiguda to Mysore. The woman found herself in a distressing situation as an unknown individual began to harass her during the journey.

In her moment of vulnerability, the woman reached out for help by dialing Disha SOS, a dedicated emergency helpline. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the Disha team sprang into action promptly and initiated the necessary steps to ensure her safety.

Understanding the criticality of the matter, the Disha team immediately alerted the Dharmavaram Railway Police, providing them with vital information about the incident and the victim’s location on the train. This timely intervention allowed the railway police to swiftly respond and coordinate their efforts to bring the situation under control.

As a result of their coordinated efforts, the harasser, identified as Ramaraju from Tamil Nadu, was swiftly apprehended by the Dharmavaram Railway Police. He was promptly taken into custody, ensuring that he could no longer pose a threat to the victim or any other passengers.

However, the responsibility of ensuring the victim’s safety did not end with the arrest of the harasser. The dedicated members of the Disha team continued to vigilantly monitor the situation, ensuring that the victim felt supported and secure throughout the remainder of her journey. Their unwavering commitment to her well-being helped alleviate her distress and instill a sense of reassurance.

Ultimately, the combined efforts of the Disha team, the Dharmavaram Railway Police, and the Anantapur Police ensured that the young woman reached her destination of Mysore safely, escaping any further harm or harassment.

In recognition of the exemplary and swift action taken by the Anantapur Police, DGP Mr. K.V Rajendranath Reddy IPS commended their dedication and efficiency in handling the distress call. Their proactive response demonstrated their commitment to the safety and well-being of citizens, reaffirming their role as protectors of the community.
