Perambalur: On (08.12.2023) in Perambalur district, an awareness program for students called ‘Kalviyum Kavalum’ was held as per the order of District Superintendent of Police Mrs.S.Shyamla Devi. The program was conducted in all schools in the district under the leadership of station in-charge officers. The students who participated in the event were made aware of the consequences of using drugs, following traffic rules, deaths and suicides caused by bathing in lakes, ponds, rivers, etc., and awareness about eradicating caste discrimination. The students who participated in this program were also made aware of the various police departments like fingerprinting unit, sniffer unit, bomb disposal unit and cybercrime unit. The students were also made aware of the importance of education and that their parents should re-enroll dropouts in school. Also, awareness about child marriage and POCSO Act was created among the students.
