Shimla: Dr. Atul Verma, a 1991-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, has assumed the role of the new Director General of Police (DGP) for Himachal Pradesh. Verma, originally from Jharkhand, previously held the position of Director General at the Crime Investigation Department (CID) in Himachal Pradesh. The state government released an official notification on Wednesday regarding Verma’s appointment, coinciding with the retirement of former DGP Mr. Sanjay Kundu the day before.
