New Delhi, May 2025: In a major breakthrough, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police has arrested a man accused of defrauding devotees of a spiritual congregation by promising exorbitant returns on fictitious investments abroad.
Targeting Devotees at Religious Gatherings
The accused, along with his associates, exploited the faith and trust of devotees attending ‘Satsang’ sessions at Bade Mandir, Chhatarpur, by luring them into investing in dubious investment schemes purportedly based in Dubai.
The victims, who were regular followers of Guru Ji, were misled with promises of high returns and assured that their investments would be managed through legitimate channels overseas.
₹9 Crores Collected in Multiple Tranches
Over time, the accused collected approximately ₹9 crores from multiple victims through staged investment tranches. However, the promised returns never materialized, and no official documents, receipts, or investment proofs were provided to the investors.
Arrest from Subhash Nagar
Acting swiftly on complaints and mounting evidence, the EOW team traced the accused and arrested him from Subhash Nagar, New Delhi. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend his accomplices and trace the siphoned funds.
Delhi Police Advisory
The Delhi Police has urged citizens to exercise caution before investing in unverified schemes, especially those propagated in social or religious gatherings. Devotees are reminded that fraudsters often misuse spiritual settings to gain trust and manipulate emotions.
A case has been registered, and legal proceedings are in progress. The Delhi Police remains committed to protecting citizens from financial frauds and ensuring that trust and faith are not misused by unscrupulous elements.
