Almora, Uttarakhand, July 13: In preparation for the upcoming three-tier Panchayat elections in Almora District and to ensure readiness during the monsoon season, Dwarahat Police have stepped up efforts to strengthen grassroots-level vigilance and community coordination.
On Sunday, Police Station In-Charge Shri Avnish Kumar convened a special meeting with village guards at the police station premises. The session aimed at mobilizing local watchfulness, enhancing communication between the rural populace and the police, and issuing clear directives to prevent disturbances during the sensitive election period.
Key Guidelines Issued to Village Guards:
Maintain Vigilance in Villages:
Village guards were instructed to closely monitor any suspicious activity or unknown individuals in rural areas and immediately report them to the police station.
Disaster Preparedness During Monsoon:
In view of potential weather-related emergencies, contact numbers of the police station and district disaster control room were shared. Guards were advised to assist in quick response during landslides, flooding, or road blockages.
Prevention of Election-Related Disturbances:
Considering the possibility of rivalries, mutual disputes, or tensions during the elections, village guards were directed to alert the police without delay if any conflict arises in their jurisdiction.
Crackdown on Illicit Substances:
The police stressed the importance of curbing illegal sale or use of narcotics, liquor, or intoxicants in the villages. Guards were told to report such incidents promptly so appropriate legal action can be taken.
This initiative reflects the proactive policing approach adopted by the Dwarahat Police under the guidance of senior officers. It emphasizes community partnership and preventive policing as key tools in ensuring peaceful elections and monsoon safety.
Dwarahat Police reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining law and order and thanked the village guards for their cooperation and service at the grassroots level.
