Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh: In a significant blow to illegal drug trade, a joint team of Sakri Police Station and the Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit (ACCU) seized 8 kg of ganja and arrested one person under Operation Prahar. The action was carried out based on a tip-off received from a reliable source.
Acting swiftly, the police team apprehended the accused red-handed from beneath the Uslapur Overbridge, where he was allegedly waiting to sell the contraband. The team recovered 8 kg of ganja stored in a black bag, valued at approximately ₹1.20 lakh, along with a keypad mobile phone.
The arrested accused has been identified as Bhupendra Puri (24), son of Narmada Puri. He hails from Risdi village under Rampur Police Station, Korba District, and is currently residing in Dhan Mandi, Torwa, Bilaspur.
A case has been registered against the accused under Section 20(B) of the NDPS Act, and he has been remanded to judicial custody.
The operation was based on confidential information that a suspect was loitering under the Uslapur Overbridge with ganja, searching for potential buyers. Responding promptly, the joint team conducted a swift and coordinated operation, leading to the arrest.
The efforts of Inspector Pradeep Arya (Station In-charge), Sub-Inspector Hemant Aditya, Constables Rupesh Kaushik and Indravan Singh Markam, along with the ACCU team, have been highly commendable in this successful operation.
Under the directives of Senior Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh, operations against drug smuggling and illegal narcotics will continue vigorously under “Operation Prahar”, reaffirming the police department’s commitment to a drug-free society.
