Udupi, Karnataka, Sept 29, 2025: Amasebailu Police have arrested Praveen, who had been absconding in a jewellery fraud case, and seized a car and gold in connection with the crime.
According to the complaint filed by Manjunath Golla of Hosangady village, owner of Sri Krishna Jewellery, the accused approached his shop on November 3, 2024, posing as a customer named Santhosh. He purchased two gold rings worth ₹30,000, claiming to have paid via NEFT and showing a mobile transaction screenshot. However, the amount was never credited. When questioned, the accused repeatedly gave excuses about network issues and promised repayment but failed to do so.
Upon inquiry, it was revealed that the accused’s real name was Praveen. A case was registered under Sections 318(2),(4) and 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 at Amasebailu Police Station (Crime No. 26/2025).
On September 29, 2025, the police arrested Praveen and produced him before the court. In connection with the case, a car (KA-15-N-5697) and gold ornaments were seized. The swift action of the police has been commended in preventing further fraudulent activities by the accused.
