Wayanad, Kerala, October 16: In a major success in the ongoing anti-narcotics drive, the District Anti-Drug Squad and Bathery Police jointly arrested a youth carrying 72.09 grams of MDMA at Muthanga on Thursday evening.
The arrested individual has been identified as K. Firosi (28), a resident of Kunjottu, Naduvannur, Kozhikode. The accused was reportedly travelling on foot when the police team intercepted and apprehended him following credible intelligence.
The swift and coordinated action by the police underscores the Wayanad District Police’s strong commitment to eradicating drug trafficking and abuse from the region. The seized MDMA, a synthetic drug with high abuse potential, has been taken into custody for further investigation.
Police officials stated that strict legal proceedings will be initiated against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The District Police Chief commended the efforts of the Anti-Drug Squad and Bathery Police team for their vigilance and dedication in ensuring a drug-free Wayanad.
