Wayanad, Kerala: Displaying exceptional courage and dedication, Wayanad Police launched an immediate rescue operation after a landslide struck Meenakshi, ensuring the safe evacuation of stranded residents and protecting people living in vulnerable areas.
As soon as information about the landslide was received, police personnel rushed to the scene without delay. Under the leadership of Meppadi Police Station SHO Inspector Sayuj Kumar, along with SI Santosh Kumar, ASI Jaysan, and Civil Police Officers, the rescue team worked closely with local residents to reach those trapped by the disaster.
Braving difficult terrain and hazardous conditions, the police tied ropes across the affected area to safely access the other side of the damaged bridge and successfully brought stranded people to safety. The team also evacuated families living in nearby houses that were at risk of further landslides and ensured that crowds were managed effectively to facilitate uninterrupted rescue operations.
The rescue efforts were personally coordinated by DIG K. Karthik, who reached the site on the day of the incident, and District Police Chief S. Deva Manohar, demonstrating strong leadership and ensuring seamless coordination among all responding agencies.
The prompt response, teamwork, and humanitarian approach of the police helped safeguard lives during the emergency and highlighted their unwavering commitment to public safety.
