Wayanad, Kerala: In a swift and efficient operation, the Wayanad Cyber Police arrested a man responsible for creating and spreading an AI-generated fake video of a zipline accident, falsely claiming it occurred in Wayanad.
A police team led by Inspector & SHO Shaju Joseph traced and took into custody K. Ashkar Ali (29) of Thiruvambadi, Thyvelikkam, Alappuzha. The accused had produced a fabricated video using artificial intelligence tools and circulated it online, causing public concern and misleading viewers about an incident that never took place in the district.
The Wayanad Cyber Police acted promptly, identifying the source of the misinformation and ensuring immediate action to prevent further spread of the video. The arrest highlights the police department’s strong commitment to combating cybercrimes, misinformation, and the misuse of emerging technologies.
Police officials urged the public to verify the authenticity of online content and avoid sharing unverified videos or messages.
