<![CDATA[A physical education teacher of a private school in Perambur was arrested for the death of a 15-year-old boy after forcing him to do ‘duck walk’ as punishment for being late. Narendran, who collapsed on the school ground on Wednesday, was rushed to the Government Stanley Hospital, where he was declared dead. Narendran was studying Class X in the Don Bosco Higher Secondary School on Madhavaram High Road, Perambur. His father Murali dropped him at the school and returned home in Thiru Vi Ka Nagar. Later, he received a call from the school about the death of his son on the school premises. His father complained of negligence on the part of teachers to the Thiru Vi Ka Nagar Police. According to police sources, phyical education teacher Jeyasingh had asked Narendran and five other students to do the ‘duck walk’ for coming late to school. While doing so, the boy fainted on the ground. Other teachers rushed him to a private hospital. Later, he was rushed to the Government Stanley Hospital, where he was declared dead. On Wednesday night, parents and family members of the boy laid siege to the police station demanding immediate action against the school authorities. Police officers conducted a thorough investigation with persons who witnessed the scene besides analysing CCTV footage of the school. An irate mob roughed up the physical education teacher. The Public blocked the Perambur-Madhavaram High Road on Thursday and staged a protest demanding quick action. Thiru Vi Ka Nagar police arrested Mr. Jeyasingh, 38, on the charge of causing death due to negligence.]]>
