Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh: The birth anniversary of the first Telugu poetess Atukuri Molla was celebrated with reverence at the District Police Office in Srikakulam on Friday.
The programme was held as part of Molla Jayanthi celebrations, organized following the directions of K. V. Maheshwara Reddy, IPS, Superintendent of Police of the district. On the occasion, K. V. Ramana, Additional Superintendent of Police, paid floral tributes to the portrait of the renowned poetess.
Addressing the gathering, the Additional SP highlighted the significant contribution of Molla to Telugu literature, noting that her simple yet powerful poetry earned a special place in literary history. He stated that her writings served as an invaluable treasure for the Telugu language and played an important role in spreading awareness and inspiration among women during her time.
Officials also encouraged participants to develop interest in literature and follow the ideals of great personalities who have enriched society through their work.
The programme was attended by AO Gopinath, CI Srinivasarao, RI Narsingarao, along with other police officers and staff members.
