Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh: In a major anti-narcotics operation, Andhra Pradesh Police have foiled an interstate and international drug trafficking attempt, seizing 213.360 kilograms of ganja worth approximately ₹1.06 crore and arresting five international drug smugglers in Anakapalli district.
The operation was carried out during routine vehicle checks at Lankelapalem Junction on National Highway-16 in Anakapalli. Police personnel noticed suspicious movements involving a car transporting contraband and a motorcycle acting as a pilot escort. The accused were reportedly coordinating their movements through mobile phones to evade law enforcement checks.
Acting swiftly on the suspicion, the police team strategically surrounded and intercepted both the car and the motorcycle. A thorough search led to the recovery of 213.360 kilograms of ganja, which was being illegally transported for distribution.
The successful operation resulted in the arrest of five accused involved in the international drug trafficking network. The seizure dealt a significant blow to the illegal narcotics trade and prevented a large quantity of contraband from reaching the market.
