Palakkad, Kerala: As part of the Kerala Government’s statewide anti-drug initiative “Operation Toofaan: The Narco Hunt” and in observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, a district-level anti-drug awareness programme is being organized in Palakkad to promote a drug-free society.
The programme will be held at the Shadi Mahal Auditorium, Palakkad, at 9:30 AM on 26 June 2026. The event aims to strengthen anti-drug awareness among youth, encourage social responsibility, and inspire communities to reject drug abuse and its harmful consequences.
The programme will be inaugurated by V. K. Sreekandan, Member of Parliament from Palakkad, and will be presided over by Ramesh Pisharody, MLA of Palakkad. The welcome address will be delivered by A. Abdul Rashi, IPS, District Police Chief, Palakkad.
The event is expected to witness the participation of district-level representatives, police officers, officials from the Social Justice and Education Departments, social security officers, students, non-governmental organizations, voluntary organizations, and residents’ association representatives. Following the inaugural session, extensive awareness programmes and discussions focusing on the prevention of drug abuse will be conducted.
The initiative reflects the collective commitment of the Police Department, government agencies, educational institutions, and civil society organizations to combat the menace of drugs through awareness, prevention, and community participation.
The organizing committee has appealed to the public to participate actively in this important movement and contribute towards the shared vision of building a drug-free and healthy society.
