Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh: In a significant step towards enhancing police welfare, fitness, and training, the Srikakulam District Police inaugurated the renovated Etcherla Armed Reserve Police Ground, transforming it into a modern multi-purpose facility for sports, parades, training, and welfare activities.
The inauguration was led by Visakhapatnam Range Inspector General Gopinath Jatti, IPS, and Srikakulam Superintendent of Police K.V. Maheswar Reddy, IPS, in the presence of District Joint Collector Farman Ahmed Khan and other senior officials. The event also featured the inauguration of the Sankalpa Vedika, a dedicated welfare platform, the cricket ground, and the Victory Gallery, followed by an impressive parade by police personnel.
Addressing the gathering, the Range IG praised the district police for developing a world-class facility that will support police training, sports, physical fitness, and official events. He emphasized that physically and mentally fit police personnel are better equipped to serve the public with professionalism, discipline, and compassion. He also encouraged officers to make full use of the new facilities to strengthen their capabilities and deliver better public service.
District SP K.V. Maheswar Reddy highlighted that the project was conceived during the previous year’s police constable recruitment drive and has now evolved into a modern sports venue through systematic development. He announced plans to further expand the facility into a comprehensive sports complex by adding badminton courts, fitness infrastructure, and additional sporting amenities. The ground has also been equipped with solar lighting, enabling police personnel and their families to use it for daily exercise, walking, and recreational activities.
The Sankalpa welfare platform has been created to promote the well-being of police families, reflecting the department’s commitment to the holistic welfare of its personnel. The SP credited the successful completion of the project to the collective efforts of the entire district police force, from Home Guards to senior officers, with valuable support from the district administration.
The event concluded with a tree plantation drive by the dignitaries, symbolising the police department’s commitment to environmental conservation alongside physical fitness and community welfare.
The initiative showcases Srikakulam Police’s dedication to building a healthier, better-trained, and more motivated police force, ultimately enhancing the quality of service delivered to the public.
