Udupi, Karnataka: In a prompt and decisive action to uphold the rule of law and protect public servants in the discharge of their duties, the Kundapur Rural Police arrested two accused in connection with a case involving obstruction of official duty and offences under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The case was registered following a complaint by the Village Administrative Officer of Gulwadi Gram Panchayat, who alleged that while he was performing his official duties at his office on 15 July 2026, two individuals entered the office, verbally abused him, threatened him, and allegedly insulted him with caste-based remarks while obstructing him from carrying out his responsibilities.
Based on the complaint, Kundapur Rural Police Station registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, ensuring that the allegations were addressed promptly and in accordance with the law.
Acting swiftly, a police team worked under the guidance of Deputy Superintendent of Police H. D. Kulkarni and the leadership of Circle Inspector Santosh A. Kaikini. The operation was carried out by Sub-Inspector Niranjan Gowda, Police Sub-Inspector (Investigation) Chandrakala M. Pattara, and the station staff. On 16 July 2026, the team traced and arrested the two accused, Palli Suleman and Shafi, at Mavinakatte in Gulwadi village.
Following their arrest, the accused were produced before the Hon’ble Court for further legal proceedings.
The swift investigation and timely arrests demonstrate the Kundapur Rural Police’s commitment to protecting public servants, enforcing laws that safeguard the dignity and rights of vulnerable communities, and ensuring that those accused of obstructing government officials and committing offences under special legislation are brought before the justice system without delay.
