Thrissur City, Kerala: Thrissur City Police have achieved a major breakthrough by arresting two accused within hours of a robbery that occurred at two locations in the city.
The accused, Sadiq (19) of Chavakkad and Danny George (27) of Peechi, were arrested from Guruvayur by the Thrissur ACP squad and East Police. The incident occurred during the early hours of August 9, 2026, when the accused allegedly attacked an elderly couple and a differently-abled lottery vendor sleeping at Shakthan Stand and robbed them of money and an ATM card.
One victim, Muthukrishnan, a Tamil Nadu native, sustained serious head injuries and was admitted to Thrissur Medical College Hospital.
Following the incident, Thrissur City Police Commissioner Nakul Rajendra Deshmukh promptly reached the spot and directed a special investigation. Under the leadership of Town ACP Rajesh T.R. and Inspector Mahendra Simhan, police teams consisting of Sub Inspectors Varun, Jees Mathew, Jayan, Sub Inspector Sajeevan, ACP Squad Harish Kumar, Deepak, Senior Civil Police Officer Sooraj, and City Camera Control Jitin Raj to trace the suspects.
The coordinated efforts of the ACP squad, East Police, and camera-control team led to the successful identification and arrest of both accused from Guruvayur. Police also found that the first accused, Sadiq, has several previous cases registered at different police stations.
The accused were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody. The swift investigation highlights the Thrissur City Police’s strong commitment to protecting citizens, ensuring public safety, and bringing offenders to justice.
