Thrissur City, Kerala: In a major success under Operation Toofan, Thrissur City Police and Mannuthy Police conducted a special enforcement drive ahead of Independence Day and the Onam season, resulting in the seizure of 3,030 litres of spirit.
Acting on a tip-off received by Thrissur City Police Commissioner Nakul Rajendra Deshmukh IPS, a joint police team conducted a detailed inspection at a premises in Mannuthy Kalathode. The spirit was found stored in 101cans at a rented house that was reportedly being used for battery-water-related activities.
Police suspect that the spirit was being stored for illegal distribution at various locations in the district during the Onam season, with the intention of making substantial profits.
The operation was carried out by City Narcotics Cell ACP Shibu P., District DAN SAF Sub-Inspector B.P.P. Nair and his team, along with Mannuthy Police Inspector Biju and his team. The driver of the van associated with the illegal transportation was also taken into custody.
The seizure represents a significant blow to the illegal liquor supply network and demonstrates the Thrissur City Police’s proactive approach to preventing the distribution of illicit liquor and protecting public safety. The successful action under Operation Toofan reflects the department’s continued commitment to strong enforcement and maintaining a safe environment for the public during the festive season.
