<![CDATA[Thiruvananthapuram: In connection with the attack carried out on women journalists and pilgrims who visited Sabarimala, the leader of the Ayyappa Dharma Sena(ADS), Rahul Easwar was arrested by the Kerala police from a Government rest house in Palakkad. A police team from the South Police Station, Palakkad arrived at the location where Rahul Easwar was present and took him into custody while he was attending a meeting of Ayyappa Seva Sangham, an organisation involved in voluntary work at Sabarimala since the 1960s as the bail granted was cancelled by the court in Ranni in Pathanamthitta on a high profile case relating to the attack on women journalists and pilgrims at Sabarimala in October The police said that he would be produced in court soon. Being a television personality, Mr. Easwar, had frequently found himself on the wrong side of the law after he put his foot down in the forefront of the agitation to prevent the entry of women between the age of 10 and 50 to Sabarimala. He had started to raise the ADS and so he came into public notice allegedly to protect the traditions of the temple in the wake of the order of the Supreme Court on September 28 which allowed the entry of women into the temple. As the assault on women journalists and pilgrims started the police booked several members of the ADS on the charge of leading the assault against the attacks at Sabarimala and Nilackal on October 17 when the temple opened for the first time after the SC order. On Easwar’s irregular attendance the State police had also filed a report in the Ranni court last week that Mr. Easwar had disobeyed the bail conditions set by the judge and had not complied with his direction to report to the Pathanamthitta police station every Saturday. ]]>
