“AADARANA”, an initiative launched to support destitute and mentally disabled

Rachakonda: An exemplary initiative ‘AADARANA’ was started to support the destitute, mentally disabled, and orphans was started by Ranga Reddy District Legal Services Authority, Rachakonda Police Commissionerate, and District Welfare Officer.

The uniqueness of the program lies in the fact that several agencies like Rachakonda Police Commissionerate under Mr. Mahesh Bhagwat IPS, District Legal Services Authority under Mr. Uday Kumar, District Welfare Office of Rangareddy Collectorate Mrs. Moti, Women, and child welfare department, DMHO Mrs. Swarajya Lakshmi and several NGOs like panel associates PLV Saikrishna, Hanumanthu, Gattu Sai, Sanjeevan and many such volunteers have come together in this noble initiative.

As part of the drive, volunteers identify destitute in an area and the next day with the help of the Police and District Welfare Office relocate them to a shelter home. Prior to shifting to shelter home, with the cooperation of the DMHO, COVID tests are conducted on the people rescued.

The persons who test positive will be shifted to Isolation homes. So far only one person is found positive in the Uppal rescue drive and referred to Ramanthapur Isolation center.

Persons with Negative results will be accommodated in government shelter homes, old age homes, and other NGOs. Most of them have been shifted to the home in Shameerpet. Some were shifted to Home for the Aged and Disabled, Bansilalpet, and shelter home at NTR Nagar.

Mr. K.Mallaih, Chairman, Sri Shirdi Sai Sansthan Trust Advisory Committee has donated groceries-rice, oil, pulses, spices, etc worth 2 lakh rupees to the shelter home in Shameerpet where most of the destitute are shifted.

The special drive was conducted first in Saroornagar Police Station limits wherein 12 were rescued and rehabilitated. Similarly, 17 in Chaitanyapuri PS limits, 10 in LB Nagar PS limits,9 in Uppal PS limits, 5 in Meerpet PS limits. So far 53 destitute have been rescued through this ‘Aadarana’ program.

Mr. Mahesh Bhagwat IPS CP Rachakonda appreciated the police and all other officials and volunteers who have come forward to work in tandem for a noble cause and also thanked the donor Mr. K.Mallaih of Shirdi Sai Sansthan, Dilshuknagar. He said that the initiative will be taken up by all Police Stations of Rachakonda with the guidance of DLSA Sri Uday Kumar Garu and the cooperation of concerned District Collectorate officers.
