Navi Mumbai: A competition was held on an all India basis for the Police which was called the Police Duty Meet and it was held in Lucknow from July 16 to 20. In the Meet it was for the first time that the Maharashtra Police team has won an overall championship trophy. The Maharashtra Police team was headed by Police Inspector Mr. Nitin Gite, who is posted with Rabale MIDC police station. He bagged two medals for law and forensic science. The Maharashtra Police team consisted of 40 officials and has won 12 medals overall. The medals are five gold, three silver, and four bronze. For the scientific aid to investigation event, the team secured three gold medals. In computer awareness, they secured one gold medal and one silver medal each was secured by the team for scientific aid to the investigation, police videography, and computer awareness. The team also secured two bronze medals in scientific aid to investigation and two medals in the anti-sabotage check competition. Police Inspector Mr. Nitin Gite said the Maharashtra State conducted a State-level police duty meet which was held on September 2018 in which he had won two bronze medals in forensic science test, which was a written exam, and medico-legal test, which was oral. The winners in the competition had to further undergo training for around two months in Pune under the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). It has been the custom every year that the winners of the State-level police duty meet, which is held among all Commissionerate and ranges of designation are given training by the CID. They will then participate in the national-level meet. This was the first time Mr. Gite got a chance to participate in the national-level competition. Mr. Gite said that these competitions help us upgrade ourselves and boost our confidence. The tests include written, practical and oral, depending on the subjects. The year 2019 is the 62nd year ever since the All India Police Duty Meet has been conducted. From across the country, Thirty Police teams consisting of 1,250 participants competed in the Meet this year. Out of the 40 participants selected from across the State to form a team, Mr. Gite and head constable Mr. Vinod Nawle who are attached to zone I office, are from Navi Mumbai. At the State, level Meet Mr. Nawle had won a gold and a bronze medal in computer events but was unsuccessful in securing a medal at the national event this year. Mr. Nawle said as I had to undergo an operation I wasn’t able to train myself for the National event properly. I am going to perform better in the coming events.]]>
