Alappuzha, Kerala: The Kerala Police are strengthening child safety in the digital age through the Kid Glove Project, a flagship cyber safety initiative aimed at protecting children from online threats while helping them become responsible and informed digital citizens.
Recognizing that children today rely heavily on the internet, smartphones, social media, and online gaming platforms for education, communication, and entertainment, the project addresses the growing risks associated with digital technology. These include cyberbullying, online fraud, fake profiles, privacy breaches, gaming addiction, dangerous online challenges, child exploitation, AI-enabled threats, and the circulation of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
The Kid Glove Project focuses on educating students, parents, and teachers about safe and responsible internet usage through awareness programmes, interactive sessions, and practical guidance. By equipping families and educational institutions with the knowledge to identify and respond to cyber risks, the initiative aims to create a safer digital environment for children.
The project’s key objectives are to build a digitally responsible student community, reduce cybercrime through preventive awareness, and develop confidence, resilience, and critical thinking among young internet users. It also encourages parents and teachers to play an active role in guiding children toward safe online behaviour.
Through this forward-looking initiative, Kerala Police are demonstrating their commitment to community policing and child protection by proactively addressing emerging cyber threats. The Kid Glove Project reflects the department’s vision of empowering the next generation with the skills and awareness needed to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.
