Amritsar: The Amritsar Police arrested 3 accused on Friday who belonged to a gang for the robbery of cash and gold jewelry from a house on December 28, 2019. The cash robbed from the house was Rs.2.5 Lakh.
Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP -licensing) Mr.Narinder Singh said a case was filed at Islamabad police station by Manpreet Singh against unidentified persons for robbing cash and gold ornaments from his house at Kot Khalsa on the night of December 27after holding his family members captive.
During the investigation process, the police received a discreet piece of information regarding the accused and the police arrested three of the accused from their residence and a stolen phone and two swords were seized from their possession. During interrogation, the police came to know that they were accompanied by others of the gang. They revealed the name of the other gang members and they are Rahul from Amritsar, Gikko, Suraj, Tokra, Mehenga, and Shambu fromTarn Taran.
The arrested accused were identified as Shankar, Kabbu, both are residents of Fatehabad village in Tarn Tarn District and Shekhar a resident of Muradpura village in the same district. The six other members of the gang are at large.
The ACP said a case has been registered against the three and six absconding accused under several sections of the IPC at Islamabad Police station. The three accused were produced before a court on Friday and the court gave the accused into police custody. He added saying that with their arrest we expect to crack other cases of robbery in the city. Efforts are being taken to apprehend the absconding accused.
