Hyderabad: At 1100 hours today, a comprehensive coordination meeting was held at the DCP South Zone Office, Hyderabad, to finalize preparations and ensure effective inter-departmental coordination for the upcoming Bakrid festival. The meeting was presided over by DCP South Zone, Mrs. Sneha Mehra, along with GHMC Zonal Commissioner, Mr. Venkanna. Key participants included Additional DCP, Mr. Shaik Jahangir, and senior officials from various departments, including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), and GHMC’s Sanitary, Veterinary, Engineering, and Electrical Departments.
The primary agenda of the meeting focused on several crucial areas to ensure a smooth and safe celebration of Bakrid:
Animal Waste Management: Strategies for efficient collection and disposal of animal waste were discussed to maintain cleanliness during the festival. Plans include deploying sufficient tippers and JCBs for effective waste collection and transportation.
Sewage and Water Works: The HMWSSB and Engineering departments emphasized the importance of monitoring and maintaining sewage systems to prevent blockages and ensure an uninterrupted water supply throughout the festival period.
Sanitation and Cleanliness: Adequate staff and resources will be deployed to manage the increased waste generated during Bakrid, with a robust plan for enhanced sanitation measures outlined.
Distribution of Waste Disposal Covers: Arrangements were made to distribute covers to residents for proper disposal of animal waste, ensuring a clean and hygienic environment.
Electrical and Engineering Coordination: Ensuring the availability of essential services such as uninterrupted power supply and the maintenance of public infrastructure during the festival was discussed.
DCP Sneha Mehra and GHMC Zonal Commissioner Mr. Venkanna highlighted the importance of seamless liaison among all departments, emphasizing the need for proactive measures and a real-time response mechanism to address any issues that may arise during the festival.
