<![CDATA[An official statement said on Wednesday that a 24-year-old passenger has been arrested by the Customs department at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in the national capital for allegedly trying to smuggle in one kg gold by hiding it in his rectum. It said that the passenger was detained upon his arrival from Dubai on Monday. The accused had hidden nine gold bars, weighing 1.04 kg, inside his rectum, the release said when his baggage was examined in detail and personal search was done. The department said that the gold bars with value of Rs.32 lakh, were seized and the passenger was arrested. A French national and an Indian man were also arrested in another case for allegedly trying to smuggle gold into the country. Both the accused had arrived at the Delhi airport from different locations. The statement said that one of them had come from Chennai, and the other, who holds a French passport, arrived from Singapore on Monday, . The customs department said that one gold bar and five gold biscuits weighing 1.5 kgs were recovered after a detailed baggage and personal search of the passengers.
