CHENNAI: The Minjur Police has said that a complaint has been filed by Arun Kumar Gupta, General Manager (Marine) to investigate the accident and find out who is responsible, as it has resulted in environmental damage, after this legal action may be taken. A senior official from the Kamarajar Port Limited (KPL) said, as ships are under the control of the Port, due protocol needs to be followed and this may take time as an enquiry is under way. KPL had ordered an enquiry by Capt Subhash Kumar, a marine expert. An enquiry in to incident has been ordered by Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai. Scientists from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Faridabad, have started disposing the sludge from February 2, Mr. P Raveendran, Chennai Port Trust Chairman said “Whether it is two tonnes or 20 tonnes it will not impact the environment in a big way”, said Coast Guard Chief.
