<![CDATA[Kochi: Even though the crime rate of Kochi is the second largest in the country the Kerala police are taking all measures to prevent and decrease the crime rate. In one such crime the Kuttampuzha police promptly arrested Joy Kuriakose aged 59 belonging to Kuthukuzhi in Kothamangalam on charges of cheating. The accused, Joy Kuriakose had pledged his brother-in-law’s property for availing a loan of Rs.77 lakh in the name of 16 different persons from the Vadattupara Cooperative Bank from 2014. As he was unable to make the repayment, the bank initiated measures to attach the property by which time his brother-in-law had expired. Joy’s wife filed a petition following which a case was registered invoking IPC Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), Section 403 (dishonest misappropriation of property), and Section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property).]]>
