Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, October 1, 2025: The Tirunelveli District Police have intensified their efforts to safeguard social harmony and public peace by taking serious action against individuals attempting to incite caste-based tensions through social media.
Police investigations revealed that some youths have been circulating posts glorifying their communities while demeaning others, posing a risk of disturbing social unity. In response, the police have acted swiftly, particularly against those sharing photos and videos displaying banned dangerous weapons.
Strong Legal Action
So far this year, 108 cases have been registered and 105 offenders arrested for such activities, showcasing the police’s commitment to ensuring law and order without any discrimination.
Awareness and Preventive Measures
Under the guidance of District Superintendent of Police N. Silambarasan, IPS, awareness programs are being conducted regularly in schools, colleges, and public gatherings to promote communal harmony. Additionally, the police are leveraging modern surveillance technologies to monitor online activities and prevent the spread of provocative content.
