Traffic diversions announced by city police to facilitate smooth flow of vehicles in view of Koniamman temple car festival

Coimbatore Launches Road Safety

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Police have announced a series of traffic diversions which will come to action on Wednesday the 6th of March from noon till 8PM as the Koniamman Temple car festival is being held on that day.

The traffic diversions as planned by the traffic police to allow smooth flow of traffic comprise of the following details. The vehicles that are entering the city from Pollachi Road and Palakkad Road will have to take the Valankulam Bypass and flyover to reach their respective destinations. Vehicles from Avanashi Road flyover and Lanka Corner will be diverted and they will have to take the Vincent Road to reach Ukkadam and proceed further to their destinations. During the period between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., vehicles from Town Hall will not be able to access the Vysial Street or Oppanakkara Street.

Further traffic diversions have been planned for smooth flow of vehicles which include the vehicles from the city will be diverted and they will have to take the Ukkadam junction, Perur Bypass Road and Shivalaya Theatre Road to proceed further. The vehicles proceeding from Avanashi Road flyover targeting to reach Mettuppalayam Road or Thadagam road will have to take the Sukrawarpet Road and Flower Market Road stretch of Mettuppalayam Road to proceed further.

Further vehicles arriving from Mettuppalayam Road and Thadagam Road which is bound for Pollachi Road or Palakkad Road has been allotted to take the Gandhipark, Ponniahrajapuram, Chockampudur, Ramamurthy Road and Shivalaya Theatre Road to reach Perur Bypass Road to proceed further.

 Heavy vehicles from Perur Road bound for Chetty Street and Raja Street have been allowed either via Shivalaya Theatre Road or Perur Bypass Road to reach Gandhipark or Ukkadam respectively. Light motor vehicles are allowed to proceed via Sullivan Street to reach Gandhipark and proceed further. Lorry traffic is prohibited from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on RG Street, KG Street, Vysial Street and Raja Street on March 6. Vehicle parking stands have been banned from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Raja Street, Vysial Street, Oppanakkara Street, KG Street and RG Street.
